OWENSBORO, Ky. — In Warren County, Ind., 147.46 acres of land with a permanent restrictive easement by virtue of a Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) agreement recently sold for $94,375, or $640 per acre, to an investor/hunter from Indianapolis. The WRP easement restricts the land to hunting only, precluding the landowner from farming of any kind, building any structures or from any type of development. Before the WRP agreement, 65 percent of this acreage was farmed, with the balance in wooded sloughs and creeks. “This auction is a good indicator for WRP-restricted land,” said Joe Mills, auctioneer.
