Barbara J. Gettinger

June 27, 1937-November 16, 2014

Barbara J. Gettinger, 77, a longtime Rush County (Noble Township) resident, passed away Nov. 16, 2014, in Rushville, Ind. She was born June 27, 1937, in Connersville to William F. and Erna May (Hera) Hamilton.
Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Connersville High School. She married the love of her life, Danny E. Gettinger, on Jan. 15, 1956. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2008. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She worked beside Danny on the family farm. They received the 4-H Lifetime Achievement award, sponsored several beef workshops and started and continued to sponsor the Rate of Gain Contest. She was a member of the Little Flatrock Christian Church, where she had served as deaconess, the Christian Women’s Fellowship and served on several church committees.
Barbara was a member of the Democrat Women’s Club, active in the Beef Cattle Assoc., volunteer 4-H leader of Noble Friendship 4-H Club, former 4-H council member and judged many 4-H projects in other counties, a volunteer for the Heart Assoc. and United Fund and had received the BPW Woman of the Year Award.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Denise (Mike) Hoeing; sons, Jeff (Lisa) Gettinger, Daniel Gettinger and Larry (Michele) Gettinger, all of Rush County; brother, William R. (Silvia) Hamilton of Cambridge City; sister, Sue Frank (Jack Witt) of Connersville; grandchildren, Kelly (Jensen) Morgan, Michelle (David) Cook, Landis Gettinger, Kevin (Lyndsay) Gettinger, Ashley Gettinger, Tyler (Jackie) Gettinger, Sam (Sarah) Gettinger, Kayla Hoeing (Chris Nobbe) and Jordan Hoeing; and great-grandchildren, Trisha and Kelsey Morgan, Caraline, Audrey and Elliett Gettinger, Ford Gettinger and Kallie and Reese Gettinger.
Barbara is also survived by a sister-in-law, Carol Gettinger, and brothers-in-law Bud Hollowell and Kenny Pflum, all of Fayette County; several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Peggy Pflum, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Little Flatrock Christian Church. Pastor Patrick Smith presided and arrangements were handled by Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Burial was in the Union Cemetery near Springersville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Danny E. and Barbara Gettinger Scholarship Fund through the RCCF, the Little Flatrock Christian Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Jolene Corin Craig

November 21, 2014
Jolene Corin Craig, 33, of Marietta, died the evening of Nov. 21, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born in Marietta, Ohio, Dec. 10, 1980. She was the daughter of John C. and Dee Holland Craig.
She graduated from Marietta High School in 1999 and from Muskingum University in 2004 with a degree in journalism. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. Jo was a professional journalist for 10 years, writing for numerous publications (including Farm World). She enjoyed writing music reviews.
Jo loved to travel. She became an avid collector of items that interested her most. All knew of her love for her Mini Cooper, Monty. Jo had an infectious smile and big brown eyes that welcomed all.
She is survived by her parents, of Marietta; by aunts and uncles, Joe and Karla Wise, of Malta, and Lennie Cutsumbis, of Marietta; and by cousins Josh and Sam Wise and Alex and Meghan Cutsumbis. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, H.C. and Jackie Holland, and John L. and Ruth Craig.
A celebration of Jo’s life will be held 3 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastor Karl Kesselring officiating. Jo’s family will be hosting a reception at the funeral home immediately following the celebration of Jolene’s life.
Jo’s wishes were to become an organ donor through Lifeline of Ohio. Her family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Patel, of Riverside Hospital, for the wonderful care he administered to Jo and her family.
