LEXINGTON, Ky. — Some of Kentucky’s premier chefs will pair Kentucky Proud foods with the world’s best bourbons at the second annual Bourbon Social from Oct. 1-11 in Lexington, Ky. The 11-day event will celebrate one of Kentucky’s signature industries with partial proceeds going to benefit Homegrown By Heroes.
Launched by Kentucky Agricultural Commissioner James Comer in January 2013, Homegrown By Heroes is a marketing initiative for agricultural producers who have served in any of the four branches of the U.S. Military. Those who qualify are able to use the Homegrown By Heroes logo on their agribusiness signage and/or agricultural products to give consumers the chance to support Kentucky Proud veteran-farmers by identifying and purchasing their products.
"Kentucky’s native spirit and Kentucky Proud foods just naturally go together," Comer said. "They both have exploded in popularity, which is creating jobs and new farm income. We invite everyone to join us at the Bourbon Social for a celebration of the best foods and beverages Kentucky has to offer."
This year’s edition of the Bourbon Social features 11 events, highlighted by the Main Event on Oct. 10 at the Campbell House in Lexington. Food and bourbon tastings, live music, signature cocktails, book signings and giveaways are among some of the highlights of the evening.
Other events throughout the week include a seminar series, a bourbon bar crawl, brunches, dinners, receptions, a Bourbon Camp and the Beer, Bourbon and Bacon Garden Party on Oct. 6 at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate.
Among the chefs who will showcase their talents are Cole Arimes, Carrie Arps, Jeremy Ashby, Kate Horning, Alan Lamoureux, Edward Lee, Jonathan Lundy, Janey Thompson and Mark Wombles.
Ticket prices range from $25 for the Seminar Series on Oct. 10 to $600 for The Bourbon Lovers Package which includes all events except the Bourbon Camp.
