IDEM seeks Environmental Excellence award nominees
 
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is seeking nominations for the 2017 Indiana Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence. This award is the state’s most prestigious environmental recognition.

The Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence is open to any Indiana citizen, business, nonprofit organization, school or government agency. All projects submitted must demonstrate significant, measurable results that positively impact Indiana’s environment. Nominated projects must be sustainable, innovative, exemplary and thoroughly documented.

Nominations must be received by IDEM no later than 5 p.m. (EDT) July 28. Dow AgroSciences announces Power to Do More winners

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Thousands of votes have been cast and three farmers have been awarded the power to do more with a $10,000 donation to their community. Of the 10 finalists in the Power to Do More contest sponsored by Resicore herbicide, Chad Hibma of Harris, Iowa, Curt Robbins of Fairfield, Illinois and Lee Stammen of Fort Recovery, Ohio, were the top three to receive the most votes and each earn a sports trip for two.

Dow AgroSciences is donating a total of $37,000, with $10,000 to the three winning communities and an additional $1,000 to the communities of the remaining seven finalists.

Each finalist entered the contest by submitting a unique photo and story about the power of their operations, many of which included family, farm equipment and picturesque landscapes.

Hibma submitted a photo of his daughter, Avery (2), and himself in his family’s cornfield. Hibma will receive two tickets to a football game at Sports Authority Field in Denver this fall, plus $10,000 for the National FFA Organization chapter in his hometown.

Robbins submitted a photo of his family standing united on their family’s fourth generation farm. In addition to farming corn and soybeans and raising cattle with his father, Robbins is a school board member, agriculture teacher, little league baseball and softball coach, junior league football coach, high school football coach and FFA advisor at Fairfield Community High School. The Fairfield Community High School football field will receive $10,000 for renovations and Robbins, a diehard Chicago Bears fan, will receive a trip for two to Soldier Field in Chicago.

Stammen submitted a photo of his son, Levi, and himself in his family’s wheat field. Stammen’s former FFA chapter will receive $10,000. A Cincinnati Bengals fan, Stammen will enjoy a trip for two to Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.

Reffett named parts director at Redline Equipment

ARCHBOLD, Ohio — Redline Equipment Co. (formerly Archbold Equipment Co.) has named Lisa Reffett parts director for its seven-store Case IH dealership complex.

In this new position she will become a member of the leadership team and be responsible for leading the parts marketing programs, parts purchasing and the strategic leadership of the parts function of the business.

Reffett comes to Redline from Case IH where she was a territory parts and service representative. Prior to that she was the manager of Global Supply Management at John Deere. She also worked for General Motors where she served in several roles including senior buyer, marketing product manager and marketing group manager. Reffett is a graduate of Purdue University and holds a Certificate of Professional Development in Strategic Leadership from Wharton College of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Redline Equipment Co., recently renamed, has seven agricultural locations in the tri-state area: Topeka, Ind., Adrian, Mich., and five Ohio locations in Archbold, Bellevue, Bowling Green, Ottawa and Sherwood.
 
Crouch names Golden director of Indiana Rural Affairs

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch announced she has appointed Jodi Golden to serve as executive director of the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. OCRA works with local, state and national partners to provide resources and technical assistance to and communities in shaping and achieving their vision for economic development.

Golden previously served as executive director of both the Illinois Capital Development Board and the Indiana Education Savings Authority. In addition, she served as trustee of the Indiana Public Retirement System and as deputy finance director of the Republican Party.

She began her career in the Illinois General Assembly, first as a policy analyst for the Illinois House of Representatives and then legislative assistant for the Illinois Senate, and is considered a subject matter expert on public funds management. A native of Danville, Ill., Golden holds a bachelor of science in speech communication: public relations and a masters of public administration from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
