As Ward Cox is leaving the Hap Clark farm, Mr. Clark has decided to quit farming and has rented his farm by the field. So, the undersigned will sell at public auction at the Hap Clark farm, located one-fourth mile south of Richmond, Ind., on Road 27; leave Road 27 at the bottom of Bock Meyer hill, follow the lane back east to the sale.

Five farm youths have been chosen as Indiana nominees for the International Farm Youth Exchange. They are James Miller, Corydon; Wally Caine, Middletown; James Stafford, Muncie; Phyllis Secondino, Clinton; and Mary Wilder, St. Joe.

All-girls’ 4-H team is the state soil judging champ; it marks the first time for an all-girls team. The team is from Washington Township High School in Valparaiso and consists of Elvin Smith as the coach, with members Pat Grass, Diane Johnson, Jolynn Rudman and Jody Stowers. The girls’ team compiled a score of 831 out of a possible 930 points.

Carl Rayn of Muncie, Ind., reports “Funk’s G-4445 was my best corn this year. It was clean, beautiful-colored grain and the moisture was down to 20 percent by mid-October. I’ll be planting more G-4445 next year.” His corn produced 141.5 bushels per acre, dry corn weight at 20 percent moist.

Case IH and Hesston Corp. say they have completed the formation of the joint venture for the design and manufacture of hay and forage equipment for sale in North America. The joint venture, to be known as Hay & Forage Industries, is owned equally by the two companies and will operate out of the facilities in Hesston, Kan.

John Ward, Brookston, is the new Indiana State Fair Board president. Homer McDonald was elected vice president and Howard Unger was chosen treasurer. In addition, two new board members were introduced: Sam Jones of the Indianapolis Urban League and Charles “Jug” Eckert of Jugs Catering.

Belinda Puetz, chair of the Indiana State FFA Foundation board and its executive director search committee, announced a new executive director has been appointed to lead the Indiana FFA Foundation and Leadership Center in Trafalgar. Christian S. MacKinnon was hired to fill the position that was previously held by Rick Nagel, who has left to enter the seminary at St. Meinrad, Ind., to become a priest.

The Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine has honored state Sen. Robert N. Jackman, DVM (R-Milroy) with its Distinguished Alumni Award.
