ILLINOIS
Aug. 12: The annual DeKalb County (Ill.) Barn Tour will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT, this year showcasing barns in the Waterman-Shabbona, Ill., area. The tour is a driving tour of barn sites hosted by the DeKalb Area Agricultural Heritage Assoc. and the JF Glidden Homestead & Historical Center. Aug. 17: The University of Illinois’ Agronomy Day 2017 will begin at 7 a.m. at the Crop Sciences Research and Education Center South First Street Facility, 4202 S. 1st St., Savoy, Ill. This year’s event features a tour of the Energy Farm and presentations from faculty within the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) and the Department of Crop Sciences. Topics include pest, nutrient, and weed management strategies, drone data, economics, water quality, and more. College of ACES Dean Kimberlee Kidwell will speak during the noontime program. July 31-Aug. 1: The Indiana Department of Transportation and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet are hosting public meetings regarding the I-69 corridor and are studying plans to construct an improved Ohio River Crossing between Evansville, Ind., and Henderson, Ky. INDOT and KYTC are sharing updates on the project website and holding public meetings on both sides of the river. The first public meeting will be 5 to 7 p.m. July 3, at Milestones in Evansville, Ind., and another meeting will be 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 1 at Henderson Community College. Aug. 18: Pro-Soil Ag Solutions hosts its annual Indiana Growers Field Day beginning at 8 a.m. at Ron Small Farms,

The symposium is ideal for networking, as it is the largest and longest-running event of its kind. Additionally, a person is inducted into the Liquid Feed Hall of Fame each year at the symposium. OHIO
July 22: The Ohio Hop Growers Guild (OHGG) presents its 3rd annual Hop Yard Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at one of nine locations across the state. July 27: OSU’s Hops Pre-Harvest Field Night will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. (with dinner starting at 5:30 p.m.) at the OSU South Centers in Piketon, Ohio. Aug. 15: The Ohio Department of Agriculture will sponsor a collection for farmers wishing to dispose of unwanted pesticides from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the OSU Extension Putnam County Office (gated parking lot on east side of the building), 1206 E. 2nd St., Ottawa, Ohio 45857. The pesticide collection and disposal service is free of charge. No paint, antifreeze, solvents and household or non-farm pesticides will be accepted. Aug. 21: In anticipation of the Aug. 21 solar eclipse, the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, Ohio, has launched a Solar Eclipse Viewing Package, including two pairs of eclipse viewing glasses along with a night of pampering accommodations; a $50 certificate towards dinner at the Inn’s renowned restaurant; and breakfast for two. TENNESSEE
July 20: The Tennessee Beef Promotion Board will meet at 1 p.m. CDT at the Tennessee Beef Industry Council located at 530 Brandies Circle, Suite A, Murfreesboro, Tenn. The meeting is open to the public. Individuals interested in addressing the board should plan to arrive early in order to be placed on the agenda. The board comprises representatives from the Tennessee Livestock Market Assoc., Tennessee Cattlemen’s Assoc., Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation, Tennessee Dairy Assoc. and Tennessee Beef Cattle Improvement Initiative.

Aug. 1-Oct. 26: University of Tennessee AgResearch plans field days at most of the 10 AgResearch and Education Centers in the state, offering farmers, ranchers, gardeners and the general public a chance to see research findings, learn from university and industry experts and network with peers.
