Jan. 17: Corn and soybean farmers looking for an edge to advance on-farm production have opportunity to attend a free informational workshop titled “What’s N Your Fields?” Hosted by a collaboration of agricultural organizations including the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the Indiana Corn Marketing Council, this one-of-a-kind workshop takes place from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. (CT) at the Vincennes University-Gibson County Center in Fort Branch, Ind. Lunch will be provided, and with limited seating available, advanced registration is required. Jan. 18-March 8: Farm families can learn how to ensure a successful ownership transition from one generation to the next in a workshop sponsored by the Purdue Extension Succession Planning Team. The workshop, “Next Steps to Successfully Growing Future Farm Generations,” will be presented by attorneys and estate planning experts. Topics include: long-term care, retirement planning, caring for the caregiver, buy/sell agreements and if an LLC is right for you. Sessions will be offered throughout the state. The schedule is:

Jan. 10-18: The Improve Communication and Build Better Relationships with Real Colors Workshops will be in four locations across Tennessee. Jan. 18: The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture will host a Bull Test Sale beginning at noon at the Middle Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center in Spring Hill, Tenn. Jan. 30-Feb. 8: Farmers who want to pursue their dream of starting a food business can learn how to turn that dream into reality at six Farmers Market Boot Camps to be held across Tennessee. The workshops will be taught by specialists from the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and are designed for farmers who want to direct market food at farmers’ markets, roadside stands, CSAs and U-pick operations. There is a $20 registration fee and lunch will be provided. Preregistration is required at least five business days prior to the workshop and space is limited. The workshops will be in Clarksville, Tenn. (Jan. 30), Martin (Jan. 31), Memphis (Feb. 1), Blountville (Feb. 6), Alcoa (Feb. 7) and Shelbyville (Feb. 8). March 21-24: Thousands of antique John Deere tractor enthusiasts from across the U.S. and Canada travel to the Quad Cities and home of Deere & Co. in March 2018 to attend the “Gathering of the Green” conference. The “Gathering of the Green” is a biannual event for John Deere 2-cylinder and New Generation tractor collectors, restorers and enthusiasts. 2018’s gathering focuses on the 100th anniversary of John Deere entering the farm tractor business and is at The RiverCenter, 136 E. 3rd St. in downtown Davenport, Iowa.
