Shafer merges variety, excellent service

By JANE HOUIN
Ohio Correspondent

DELTA, Ohio — Many say variety is the spice of life. But when it comes to business, combine that variety with exceptional service and it can be a winning combination. That’s why customers have relied on Shafer Truck and RV Sales in Delta since 1970.

“We’re not just about sales, we’re a full-service dealership” said Sherri Shafer, who along with husband, Terry, and son, Todd, own and operate Shafer Truck and RV Sales. “We really pride ourselves on the good service we offer our customers after the sale.”

As the name suggests, Shafer Truck and RV sales does sell both trucks and recreational vehicles. It is a franchised dealer of Itasca RVs by Winnebago, to be precise, and in addition to those new RVs, it offers a wide selection of both used trucks and RVs.

But it also sells steel and aluminum hopper-bottom grain trailers. In fact, it is the number-one dealer in the country for Jet Co. hopper-bottom grain trailers and its booth at this year’s Farm Science Review will be located right next to the Jet Co. booth.

While the Shafers do offer some passenger cars and lighter duty trucks for sale, their specialty is in providing bigger, heavy duty trucks and semis for customers, which many are looking for to use for their hopper-bottom grain trailers.

In addition, they also set up grain beds for farmers on trucks, although Sherri Shafer said most of their clientele today continues to lean toward the line of hopper-bottom trailers because of the ease in handling grain.

And the Shafers know a thing or two about that, as well. In addition to running their family business, they also farm 1,500 acres of corn and soybeans with a little wheat thrown in for good measure. At the Farm Science Review, look for their booth to feature their line of Jet Co. trailers along with some used trucks and a new motor home.

And if you aren’t able to stop by their booth at Farm Science Review, they can be contacted by phone at 419-337-5851 or by e-mail at terryshafer@shafer truck.com

Its website at www.shafertruck.com also features a complete listing of business inventory.
