By SUSAN MYKRANTZ Ohio Correspondent LAKEVILLE, Ohio — What better way to enjoy autumn in Ashland County than on the Farm Bureau’s 2010 Drive It Yourself Farm Tour? This year it will be Oct. 2 from 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and Oct. 3 from 12:30-6 p.m.
The first stop is Round Lake Christian Camp, 114 St. Route 3, Lakeville. Stop two is Richardson’s Greenhouse and Landscaping, 8471 Twp. Rd. 459, Loudonville. Visit the greenhouse and see what plants are available to add a splash of color to your home.
Stop three is Byland Polled Shorthorns, 500 Twp. Rd. 2802, Loudonville. In addition to seeing the Byers family’s Shorthorn cattle, the Ashland County Cattlemen will be selling ribeye sandwiches.
Stop four is Big Run Evergreens, 635 Twp. Rd. 2724, Loudonville. Stop five will be the Ashland County Barns and Rural Heritage Society exhibit at Snyder Equipment Barn, 2624 Co. Rd. 775, Loudonville.
Stops six and seven will only be open Saturday. The first stop is the Robert Eicher Farm, 522 Co. Rd. 2575, Loudonville, to view Eicher’s Haflinger Horses and learn about his cabinet-making business.
The second Saturday-only stop is Scenic Hill Jerseys, owned by the John Yoder Family and located at 2558 Twp. Rd. 457, Loudonville, Ohio 44842. Enjoy a dish of homemade ice cream at this stop.
Stop eight (both days) is Mohican Morgan and Alpaca Farm, 341 Co. Rd. 2575, Loudonville, and the final stop is the Bartley and Bolin Gravel Pit, (James Plant) 177 Co. Rd. 2575, Loudonville. Tour maps will be available at each stop. |
