MSU Extension offers cow/calf winter program
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Beef production, like all of agriculture, is a rapidly changing business. To help cow/calf producers stay competitive and profitable, the Michigan State University (MSU) Extension beef team is offering a winter educational program in four locations.

The 2006 Cow/Calf Producers’ Winter Program will be offered in Coopersville Feb. 20 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.; in Lake City Feb. 21 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.; in West Branch Feb. 22 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.; and in Lachine Feb. 23 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Green Township Hall.

This program will focus on such topics as implications of the National Animal Identification System, a Johne’s disease update and animal health protocols, and cattle cycle opportunities and management tips.

Presenters include MSU Extension specialists and educators. The registration fee is $20 for the first person from each farm and $10 for every additional person from the same farm. It is due Feb. 13 for all programs.
