2007 Environmental Respect Award winners announced

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Five top farm supply retail businesses have been selected as Environmental Respect Award regional winners in the United States for 2007.

The winners are: Ritter Crop Services, Inc. of Marked Tree, Ark.; Simplot Grower Solutions of Berea, Neb.; Growmark FS, LLC of Bridgeton, N.J.; The McGregor Co. of Oakesdale, Wash.; Wisconsin River Agronomy of Adams, Wis.

The Environmental Respect Awards, sponsored by DuPont Crop Protection and CropLife magazine, are the agricultural industry’s highest recognition for environmental stewardship among U.S. agricultural retailers – those who serve farmers and ranchers with the nutrients, pest control and agronomic information critical to effective crop production.

“We honor these businesses because they are ensuring the safety and health of tomorrow’s communities – both rural and urban – through sustainable practices,” said Jim Collins, vice president and general manager of DuPont Crop Protection.

These businesses were selected by a panel of industry experts and won the award based on excellence in site design, in-plant storage and handling procedures, proper application and leadership in safety and stewardship among customers and employees.

Members of the 2007 selection committee were, Roger Rohrbough, DuPont Crop Protection, Wilmington, Del.; Allan Noe, CropLife America, Ford West, The Fertilizer Institute, and Jim Thrift, Agricultural Retailers Association, all of Washington, D.C.; Tom Carlisle, 2006 Regional Winner, UAP Distribution, Mulberry, Fla.; Allen Rusk, Wabash Valley Service, McLeansboro, Ill.; and Eric Sfiligoj, CropLife magazine, Willoughby, Ohio. CLAAS of America receives four awards

OMAHA, Neb. — CLAAS of America, Inc. has once again been recognized by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) for its unique and industry-leading features in hay tools and forage harvesting equipment.

Recognizing engineering achievements in the food, agricultural, and biological industries, the AE50 awards program judges products globally, seeking products that have made the most profound technological strides in their respective industry. The products selected are expected to benefit producers by saving them time, money, and labor while improving safety.
