Two northwestern Ohio pasture workshops set for September

By VICKI JOHNSON
Ohio Correspondent

BLOOMVILLE, Ohio — Grazing specialist Bob Hendershot is to be the featured speaker for two northwestern Ohio pasture workshops next month.

The first meeting is at 5 p.m. Sept. 8 at Pat Waldock’s farm, 10608 East County Road 12 in Bloomville.

Participants also can visit Dave Kagy’s farm, just west of Waldock’s. The second meeting is at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 9 at John and Brad Stahl’s farm, 2099 Temple Road in Bucyrus.

The meetings are hosted by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Crawford, Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot counties, along with the Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS).

Hendershot, an NRCS state grazing specialist, is to speak about fall management tips, winter and extended grazing and rotational grazing, as well as management topics for various species.
Producers are invited to attend one or both of the meetings. Registrations are due by Sept. 4.

Cost is $5 per day to cover meal costs. For more information or to register contact Kendall Stucky at Seneca SWCD, 419-447-7073 or by e-mail to kendall.stucky@oh.nacdnet.net

To get the Waldock farm from Bloomville, take CR 12 east for two miles. From State Road 4 near Attica, take TR 86 west 3.5 miles. The road turns into CR 12 and the farm is one the south side.
To get to the Stahl farm from Bucyrus, take State Road 19 north about five miles to Temple Road. Turn west and the farm is about 1/3-mile on the south side of road.
