Indiana church uses various media for best experiences
CONNERSVILLE, Ind. — Harrisburg Union Church in Connersville is an independent church in the Baptist tradition, standing for the historical fundamentals of the Christian faith.

Organized in the summer of 1951, it was a resurrection of sorts of the Lick Creek Baptist Church. That church built a “meeting house” in 1847 which still stands on the north end of the property. Because of the increase in attendance to around 250 in the 1990s under Pastor John Stewart, the church built a new sanctuary with classrooms, but left the old building intact.

The old church is easily identified by the date 1847 over the old entrance. It is used as a fellowship hall now. When Stewart retired in 2006 after a ministry of 37 years, the church called me to be the seventh pastor. I had  returned to the United States, having been a missionary to Germany for 20 years.

The worship at the church is traditional. We use conservative music, have Scripture reading, prayer, congregational singing, sometimes solos, duets and trios and expository preaching.

The goal is to offer an atmosphere that is worshipful, without being dull. The service times for the week are Sunday School at 9 a.m., Morning Worship at 10 a.m. Sundays and evening service at 6 p.m. and a mid-week service on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Our address is 3521 N. CR 225 W, in Connersville. The church is located almost directly behind the future Carbon Motors plant. To get here, take SR 1 to 300 N, following it to Harrisburg, then turn north in Harrisburg and the church 1/2-mile north. The church phone is 765-825-7354.

Consider this your invitation to visit us. You will be pleasantly surprised, and most definitely blessed!
