| Northern Illinois soybean site draws average yields |

TOWANDA, Ill. — At nearly 60 bushels per acre, Kruger hybrid K2-3302 won a soybean hybrid test in northern Illinois this season.
This Kruger variety netted 59.8 bu. per acre with a moisture content of 16.6 percent. Its estimated gross income was $598 per acre.
These results were well above the average for all of the hybrids tested in Towanda, Ill. The average yield of all tested products was 53.7 bu. per acre. The average moisture content came in at 16.7 percent, and estimated gross income was $536.50 per acre.
Farmer’s Independent Research of Seed Technologies (F.I.R.S.T.) conducted the test on the McLean County, Ill. farm of Judson Stover.
The soil type was a Ipava silty clay loam.
The no-till field was non-irrigated and moderately well drained.
F.I.R.S.T. manager Eric Beyers planted the field on May 28 at a rate of 140,000 seeds per acre. Beyers harvested an estimated 104,500 plants per acre on Oct. 19. “This site had excellent seed size and quality,” Beyers reported. “The plant heights were moderate at 40-inches tall.”
The previous crop on this site was corn treated with Harness Xtra.
Other top-finishing varieties in this test include: Asgrow AG3430, 58.4 bu. per acre; Beck XL-355R, 58.4 bu. per acre; Beck XL-362NR, 58.1 bu. per acre; Kruger K2-3102, 57.9 bu. per acre; and Trisler 31Z0R2, 57.9 bu. per acre.
