COVINGTON, Ind. - The 2023 Bi-State Crops Conference is scheduled for Dec. 5 at the Beef House in Covington. Registration for the conference closes Dec. 1.
Drawing knowledge from experts in Illinois and Indiana, this year’s line-up boasts an impressive panel of speakers covering topics from weed control to nutrient loss. The cost is $30, which includes the full conference and a meal. Registration is limited to 75 participants this year.
Included in the schedule of events is a weed management update from Bill Johnson, professor of weed science at Purdue University.
Dr. Carmen Blubaugh, agroecologist at the University of Illionois-Champaign, will present an introduction to the Diverse Corn Belt Project. Kurt Lanzone and Adam Tyler, Purdue Extension educators, will discuss Managing the Storm – Farm Stress for Producers.
After lunch, Dr. Andrew Margenot, associate professor at the University of Illinois, will talk about overlooked non-ag but non-point sources of nutrient losses. Adam Shanks, digital agriculture and natural resources curriculum lead for Purdue Extension, will discuss more than just scouting with a drone.
The conference is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. EST. Cash or checks will be taken at the door the day of the event.
