NCGA announces its 2009 Corn Board candidates<br>
CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — Six leaders in the U.S. corn industry are nominees for open positions on the National Corn Growers Assoc. (NCGA) Corn Board for the 2009 fiscal year.<br>
Three of the candidates are running for reelection.<br>
The candidates are, in alphabetical order:<br>
•Martin Barbre of Carmi, Ill. Barbre is the chair of NCGA’s Biotechnology Working Group and is a former president and board member of the Illinois Corn Growers Assoc. He also serves as a member of the White County, Ill., Farm Bureau Board. He is a partner in Chestin Farms with his son and son-in-law, where they grow 4,200 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa and export tobacco.<br>
•Don Glenn of Hillsboro, Ala. Glenn is a former president and board member of the Alabama Soybean and Corn Assoc. and served on the state’s soybean checkoff board. He is a member of NCGA’s Ethanol Committee. Glenn farms in a partnership with his brother, raising corn, wheat and soybeans on 1,500 acres, strictly as a family farm with no hired labor.<br>
•Daryl Haack of Primghar, Iowa. Haack seeks reelection to the NCGA Corn Board and is a former chair and board member of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board. He serves as liaison to the NCGA Biotechnology Working Group. Haack farms 400 acres of corn and 400 acres of soybean with his wife, Alyda.<br>
•Darrin Ihnen of Hurley, S.D. Ihnen is seeking reelection to the NCGA Corn Board. He is also a board member of the South Dakota Corn Growers Assoc. and the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council. Ihnen is liaison to the NCGA Ethanol Committee. He is a fourth-generation farmer, raising corn, soybean and wheat, and has a contract hog finishing operation and a cow/calf enterprise.<br>
•Jerry Larson of Elbow Lake, Minn. Larson is chairman of the Minnesota Corn Research and Promotion Council and a member of NCGA’s Ethanol Committee. He is also a former president of the Minnesota Coalition for Ethanol. Larson farms 1,300 acres in a corn-soybean rotation and is invested in five processing plants utilizing corn and soybeans.<br>
•David Nelson of Belmond, Iowa. Nelson is running for reelection to the NCGA Corn Board. He is a board member of both the national Renewable Fuels Assoc. and the Iowa Renewable Fuels Assoc. Nelson serves as liaison to the NCGA Production and Stewardship Action Team. He farms 5,000 acres of corn and soybeans with his two brothers.<br>

Dutch Acres wins top territory honors from Montana Tractors<br>

ROGERS, Ark. — On Jan. 11 at the Montana Tractors National Dealer meeting held in Rogers, Dutch Acres Equipment of Franklin, Ind., received Montana Tractors Best in Territory Award.<br>
This award is based on gross sales during the 2007 calendar year. Mike Dopp is the national account manager for Dutch Acres. Ken and Kay Tearman, owners, were honored to receive the top dealer award for their territory.<br>
Montana Tractors distributes a complete line of compact and utility tractors throughout a dealer network of over 250 dealers in North America. In addition to its line of compact tractors, it will be upgrading the subcompact and utility tractor categories this year with high-performance workhorses.<br>
LS Cable Ltd. Of South Korea has been a partner with Montana Tractors since the beginning and manufacture the majority of the Montana Tractors line, which is shipped to Springdale, Ark., for final assembly and distribution to dealers.<br>
American Lamb Board elects new officers in Vegas<br>

DENVER, Colo. — The American Lamb Board elected new officers at its annual meeting in Las Vegas, Nev., on Jan. 25.<br>
Chico Denis of Vancourt, Texas, was elected to serve as the chairman, Lorin Moench Jr. of Salt Lake City, Utah, was elected as vice chairman and Laurie Hubbard of Bellefonte, Penn., was reelected as secretary. Nick Forrest of Oxford, Ohio, was elected to serve as the treasurer. The officers will serve one-year terms.
Forrest represents producers on the board. He was appointed to the American Lamb Board in 2002 and served a three-year term. He has served as marketing committee chairman as well as vice chairman for two years. Nick also chaired the 2005 rewrite of the American Lamb Board strategic plan.<br>
