‘Hoosier Women in Business’ seminars will begin tomorrow

By ANN ALLEN
Indiana Correspondent

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — There’s still time for Hoosier women wishing to start or grow a business to register for one of four sessions of the state’s third annual Advancing Hoosier Women in Business seminars. Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman will be keynote speaker at each.

Annie Bell, a spokesperson for the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), said the first session on June 18 at Ivy Tech in Columbus runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and will be followed by three others at Valparaiso on June 30, at the same time at Ivy Tech; Huntington, July 7 at Huntington University, at the same time; and Evansville, July 23, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Ivy Tech.
The registration fee for each seminar is $20, which includes lunch. Participants can register by logging onto www.in.gov/ocra/2341.htm or by calling OCRA at 800-824-2476.

The series is a collaborative effort of Skillman, OCRA and the Indiana Small Business Development Center Network, to provide Hoosier businesswomen with technical and educational resources. Success stories of how rural women have launched entrepreneurial careers will be featured along with panel discussions and other speakers.

“Hoosiers must continue to develop innovative businesses in order for our state to remain competitive in the global marketplace,” Skillman said.

“This series is a great chance for women to gather information and share ideas with their peers through resource panels, speakers and networking opportunities.”
